Planning staff said the proposed tower’s height exceeds residential district limits, so public-use zoning is most appropriate. The planning commission met in December and recommended the rezoning to allow the city to site infrastructure needed for system pressure and service.
After a motion, second and roll-call vote, the ordinance passed with support from commissioners present. Commissioners noted the project has been discussed for decades and that the rezoning supports the city’s ability to install the necessary tower.
