Iredell County commissioners accept opioid-funds reallocation, approve small library and veterans grants by consent

At the Iredell County Board of Commissioners' pre-agenda meeting on Jan. 6, 2026, the board took several administrative items by consent.
Caroline Taylor (County finance presenter) asked the board to amend the county's opioid settlement spending resolution so that funds allocated for the program administrator would be moved from the "early intervention" strategy to the "collaborative strategic planning" strategy for the remainder of the year. After brief explanation the change was approved by consent.
Julie Moore requested acceptance of a Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) scholarship of $2,175 from the State Library of North Carolina to cover most expenses for attending the Public Library Association conference in Minneapolis in April 2026. The board approved the budget amendment and grant acceptance by consent.
Caroline Taylor then presented a Walmart Good Spark grant of $600 to Veteran Services; the funds will be used to purchase two monitors to create a "Wall of Heroes" display. The board approved that budget amendment by consent.
The manager provided informational county construction project updates and asked the board to approve minutes from Dec. 16, 2025; both were placed on consent and approved.
All consent items passed without recorded questions or roll-call objections in the 4:00 p.m. session; staff said detailed materials and a press release will be issued with links to the full reports. The County Manager named Daryl Conley, Public Safety Director, as a point of contact for departments with questions and asked that comments go to staff rather than directly to consultants.
