Board approves consent agenda and accepts $10,000 Samsung grant for CY Middle School

The Natrona County School District #1 Board approved its agenda and consent agenda by unanimous voice/hand vote and accepted a superintendent recommendation to approve a district grant and multiple donations.

Staff reported one grant for board consideration: CY Middle School was named the state winner in the 2025–26 Samsung Solve for Tomorrow competition, earning $10,000 in Samsung STEM supplies and equipment. Trustee True Wallace moved to accept the grant; a trustee identified as Mary seconded the motion and the board approved the acceptance unanimously.

The board also acknowledged five donations read by staff: Cundy donated $12,000 for middle- and high-school CTE purchases; USA Trucking donated $750 toward a replacement shot clock at Midwest School; Continental Resources donated $1,000 for Midwest School athletics; Christy Sloyer donated $2,500 for Midwest School’s 2026 senior class activities; and North Platte Walleyes Unlimited donated $2,000 to district food services to help families pay for school meals.

Earlier in the meeting the board confirmed the agenda and consent items — which included executive session minutes of Dec. 8, general session minutes of the same date, a certified classified personnel report, district bills for December 2025 and Jan. 2026, and six bids for major maintenance projects — and approved them unanimously.

Trustees praised the district’s programs and donors during brief remarks; no additional conditions or follow-up tasks tied to the grant acceptance were announced on the record.
