Marysville administrator updates council on parks, LPR cameras, stormwater and grants

City Administrator Josh presented the city administration report and highlighted several projects and operational updates across departments.
Josh said the council packet included year-end numbers from Marshall County Sport and Rec along with multi-year comparisons to assist planning. He said staff are working with Marshall County Sport and Rec and local partners (including a named Marysville partner) to grow the farmers market and increase community event participation.
On parks, Josh described drainage work at the 'blue field' and discussed ADA-related access for the bleachers and surrounding landing areas. Council members noted that timing of work and maintaining spectator experience are trade-offs; staff recommended addressing detailed designs at the Park & Rec committee meeting this month.
The police department received two grants, completed office recarpeting, and achieved reaccreditation through CALEA, Josh said. The department has installed four of six license-plate-reader (LPR) camera units and is awaiting SIM cards to reach full operational status; staff will confirm the locations for the remaining cameras.
Public works updates included completed work on a sanitary reroute at South 10th and Highway 77 and a completed lagoon project with a planned phase 2. Josh also listed several grant-funded downtown and commercial-building projects (CDBG, historic credits and others) intended to spur investment along key corridors.
Council and staff agreed to schedule Park & Rec and street committee meetings to finalize project priorities for the year and to revisit items such as 12th Road rock selection, street paving sequencing, and odd-even parking rules after the winter season.
