County names inaugural board for Long Lake Lake Improvement District

Otter Tail County commissioners approved appointments to the newly formed Long Lake Lake Improvement District board at their Jan. 13 meeting.
County staff explained they received 15 applications and created separate pools for homestead and seasonal riparian applicants. To ensure fairness they drew names at random from each pool to assign staggered one‑, two‑ and three‑year terms. The board moved and approved the recommended slate of three seasonal and four homesteaded residents to fill the inaugural board.
Staff said they will provide the board secretary with the correct name spellings and specific term lengths by email. Commissioners thanked applicants and said they expect the new Lake Improvement District board to have a busy first year launching its programming.
