Board approves road hearing date, 28E agreement for Ironbridge, utility permit, and claims
Summary
At its Jan. 13 meeting the Jackson County Board of Supervisors set a Feb. 17 public hearing for the five-year road program, approved a 28E interagency agreement and resolution in support of an Ironbridge replacement build grant, authorized a utility right-of-way permit for aerial fiber on 100th Street, and approved claims/warrants totaling $691,263.92.
Jackson County supervisors used their Jan. 13 meeting to take several administrative and project actions:
- Five-year road program public hearing: The board set a public hearing on the FY27 five-year road program for Feb. 17, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. County Engineer Jaden Shekel had recommended holding the hearing during a daytime board meeting for one year to measure public input.
- Ironbridge replacement: The board approved a 28E interagency agreement (an agreement among seven counties) to support submission of a build grant for the Ironbridge reconstruction/replacement and also approved a resolution of support (listed in the meeting as Resolution 1161-O1-13-2026) authorizing the board chair and auditor signatures on the letter of support.
- Utility right-of-way permit: The board approved a utility right-of-way permit to add an aerial fiber line to existing overhead lines along 100th Street in Jackson Township (Sections 31 and 32). The engineer said overhead clearance will meet a minimum standard and the department recommended approval.
- Claims and warrants: The board authorized the auditor to issue warrants for claims totaling $691,263.92. Discussion during the motion referenced approximately $270,000 for secondary roads and just under $270,000 in bridge replacement costs within the claims listing.
All items listed above were approved by the board during the meeting and recorded as motions carried.
