Donations and senior programs: The Millbrae Cultural Committee donated $4,000 to support the city’s monthly senior luncheon. After a public speaker described seniors who save food or skip meals because of limited means, the council accepted the donation by motion and unanimous vote.
Committees and regional appointments: City Clerk Elaine Tran presented recommended changes to the council’s ad hoc subcommittee structure, including renaming the budget appropriation subcommittee, consolidating the community benefits and economic development subcommittees, and combining land use, infrastructure and environmental sustainability functions. Council approved the mayor’s recommended assignments with a small set of agreed amendments and directed staff to implement regional appointment swaps and notify the corresponding regional bodies.
Veterans and first responders appreciation: Council member Riley proposed creating an annual Veterans and First Responders Appreciation dinner in partnership with the Millbrae Cultural Committee (MCC). The council directed staff to schedule a dinner on the council meeting night closest to Veterans Day, with MCC assisting on food and logistics. The motion passed 5–0.
