Summary
At its January organizational meeting, the ISD 191 Board of Education elected board officers by acclamation, kept director pay at $450 per month with a $50 chair stipend, approved the 2026 meeting calendar and routine consent items, and moved into regular business.
The Independent School District 191 Board of Education completed its annual organizational business at its Jan. 8 meeting, electing officers and approving routine governance items. Director Ault was declared board chair by acclamation after receiving the only nomination. Director Scott Hume was elected vice chair, Director Mickelson elected clerk, and Director Anderson elected treasurer, each by acclamation.
The board voted to set director pay at $450 per month and an additional $50 monthly stipend for the chair. Members also approved the proposed 2026 regular meeting schedule, which will generally be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Diamond Head Education Center and cablecast, with board listening sessions scheduled 5:45–6:15 p.m. on meeting nights. The organizational consent agenda (items G–M) was approved as presented.
The acting chair reviewed nomination procedures at the start of the organization section, noting nominations require no second and that a single nominee typically is declared elected by acclamation. Several routine procedural clarifications were made during the meeting about how contested elections would be handled and whether roll call or show-of-hands votes would be used for recorded tallies.
The organizational portion concluded without contested votes; voice motions and unanimous approvals moved the agenda forward to the informational portion of the meeting.
