At the Jan. 14 Wayne County Government Operations Committee meeting, Danielle Morris, director of Human Relations and Business Inclusion (HRBI), presented the division’s fiscal 2024–25 accomplishments and vendor counts, saying the workload remained robust and that previously reported declines were due to legacy system limitations rather than vendor attrition.
Morris reported 3,545 total registered businesses for fiscal 2024–25, including 2,592 certified vendors, 953 non‑certified vendors, 1,569 firms located in Wayne County and 153 certified small businesses. "That included 2,592 certified vendors," she said while answering a commissioner’s question about local vendor representation.
Commissioners raised concerns about whether the county’s procurement systems were driving vendors away. Morris acknowledged user‑experience problems with the county’s legacy platform (TCM/procure‑to‑pay) and said HRBI has contracted with B2G and LCP Tracker to provide a more tailored, user‑friendly system for vendor registration and tracking.
Commissioner Clayton asked why the county did not have more visible Wayne County vendors on report lists; Morris said the new platform and onboarding process are intended to stabilize registrations and improve transparency once fully implemented.
No formal vote was required during the presentation. Morris said HRBI will report back to the commission as the new platform is rolled out and the office monitors vendor counts and participation.
