Onalaska approves Sand Lake Road streetlight project to Pellinger Electric for $161,763.69

The Onalaska Board voted unanimously to award the Sand Lake Road streetlight extension project to Pellinger Electric for $161,763.69, to be paid from TID 6.
Kevin Schubert, city engineer, said only one contractor submitted a bid despite three plan holders viewing the plans; Pellinger’s base bid was substantially below the engineering estimate of about $260,000 and the $300,000 in the capital improvement budget. “We did only receive one bid from Pellinger Electric…this is well under what our estimate was,” Schubert said.
Board members confirmed the project is a second phase extension of decorative street lights up Sand Lake Road, continuing the existing line to the county limit. After brief discussion and a procedural vote, the Board approved the award and will fund the work through TID 6.
Next steps: staff will finalize contract documents and schedule installation for the upcoming construction season.
