Onalaska awards 2026 mechanic truck build to RBL Inc. for $156,255

The Onalaska Board of Public Works on Jan. 6 approved awarding the 2026 mechanic truck build bid to RBL Incorporated for $156,255.
Jared Holter, director of public works, told the Board staff reviewed three bids and recommended the RBL maintainer unit with options A, B, D and H as the best long‑term choice to replace a 2005 unit. “Staff is recommending award to RBL Incorporated for the base build with options A, B, D and H for a total of $156,255,” Holter said.
Holter said staff visited manufacturers to compare units and that RBL’s maintainer was judged to be more robust and likely to last longer than alternatives. The Utilities equipment budget had $150,000 allocated for the replacement; Holter said the additional cost can be absorbed by the water, sewer and storm utility funds.
After a brief clarification over bid sheet formatting and the final figure, the Board voted unanimously to approve the award.
Next steps: staff will proceed with contract award and prepare the procurement paperwork and delivery schedule.
