The Saint Cloud City Council unanimously approved several routine and planning items during its Jan. 15 meeting.
- Ordinance 2024-50 (readoption of the future land use element): Melissa Dunklin explained staff removed or amended policies identified by Florida Commerce as potentially more restrictive under Senate Bill 180 and corrected two mapping errors before recommending readoption. Council approved transmission to Florida Commerce 5–0.
- Ordinance 2025-78 (entertainment district amendment): Stephanie Holcamp said the amendment removes duplicative permitting for special events and clarifies that only clear plastic cups are permitted for downtown alcohol circulation; council approved 5–0.
- Resolution 2026-002R (Tyson Reserve subdivision variance): Staff described a request to reduce front-yard setback requirements on lots 52–88 to allow southern-style porches and explained the request arose from grading/site constraints; the council granted the variance 5–0.
Votes at a glance: each item had a recorded roll-call vote with all five council members (Irvin, Gilbert, Fletcher, Paul, Robertson) voting in favor.
These items proceeded with limited public comment and were approved without amendment; the council’s more substantive land-use discussion of the Walker Property was continued so staff and the developer could return with options on an omitted trail segment.
