The Port Washington Police and Fire Commission on Jan. 12 voted to accept the previous meeting’s minutes, approved a police lieutenant’s request for secondary employment and then voted to enter closed session to consider the fire chief’s performance.
The chair opened the meeting and, after hearing no corrections to the minutes, a motion to accept last month’s minutes was made, seconded and approved by voice vote.
Police Chief Ings presented a written request from Lieutenant Kurt Knauski seeking secondary employment with the Wisconsin Jewish Security Network to provide security services at Jewish schools and facilities in southeast Wisconsin. Chief Ings said he had no concerns and that the secondary work would not interfere with Knauski’s city duties. A commissioner moved to approve the request; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
Later in the meeting the commission voted to move into closed session to consider the fire chief’s performance review under Wisconsin state statute 19.85(1)(c). The motion to enter closed session was moved and seconded; during roll call Jill responded “Here,” and Commissioners Joe and Sarah each voted “Aye,” followed by the chair voting “Aye.” The commission proceeded to the back room for the closed session.
The commission set its next regular meeting for Feb. 9.
