The Riverwoods police chief reported several recent burglaries affecting the Shops of Riverwoods, including theft from a delivery truck and a burglary at a business, all under active investigation. The chief said incidents occurred over the last few days and one theft was reported the following day.
The chief had an item on the agenda proposing a dispatch services contract with Deerfield but said he had questions about the contract language and asked the board to postpone that agenda item until the Jan. 20 meeting while he works with Deerfield on clarifications. The board agreed to delay the item.
The chief also explained the department's interest in ordering challenge coins as a morale and recognition item for officers; that discussion was informational and no purchase was authorized at the meeting.
