Forney ISD’s board approved final modifications to elementary attendance boundaries for fall 2026, splitting Willett Elementary into two zones and shifting a small area from Griffin to Crosby; transportation provisions for eligible bilingual pre-K4 students were included.
Forney ISD’s Board of Trustees voted to approve final changes to elementary attendance boundaries that will take effect for the 2026–27 school year. Associate Superintendent Kim Morzak presented the plan, which affects Willett, Jacobs (new elementary), Griffin, Crosby and Wilson elementary schools and is intended to balance enrollment as the district opens a twelfth elementary school in the fall.
The board approved dividing Willett Elementary into two zones, with one portion reassigned to the new Jacobs campus and a smaller adjustment moving a neighborhood from Griffin Elementary to Crosby Elementary. Morzak said the proposal reflects community feedback gathered in two community meetings and public hearings and uses demographer input to balance school populations.
The district noted the rezone affects only elementary campuses for 2026–27 and does not change intermediate, middle or high school attendance zones. The plan also designates areas for bilingual campuses and provides transportation for students eligible for transportation services based on where they live. Superintendent (Doctor) Terry and the administration said operational and communication plans will follow final approval.
Board member Dobbs moved to approve the proposed boundary modifications; the motion carried with no opposition recorded. The board directed staff to implement the operational steps associated with the rezone and to include the item on the consent agenda for the January meeting’s follow-up documentation.
