During the meeting members heard several administrative updates: staff had no update on a previously planned letter to state Sen. John McCarthy; members reported they had reviewed expedited bill 35-25 (county administration immigration protections) and forwarded technical questions to the county staff attorney for clarification; Francisco said ACP staff will return with a suggested response to the plenary.
Francisco also reported that five commission members attended a Jan. 7 South Civic Engagement event to meet a cohort of new officers; attendees observed greater diversity among recruits and estimated about 75% said they lived in the county. Christy circulated a sign-up for an informal ACP gathering on Jan. 26 at Mount Calvary Baptist Church (608 North Horners Lane) and later added RSVP options; members discussed logistics, setup and cleanup slots and contributions of food and dessert.
Near the end of the meeting, staff confirmed a new optional AI companion note-taker was enabled; staff said it acts as a note-taker and will likely email notes to members.
