At the Wyoming Valley West School District board meeting on Jan. 14, public commenter Mr. McDavid urged the board to act on Vice Principal Jarski's extended absence, saying the administrator has been off for "4 and a half months" and criticizing the district for continuing to pay his salary while he is not working.

Mr. McDavid said: "As a taxpayer, I'm paying this guy's salary to sit home and do nothing." He pressed the board to move more quickly and said that in a private business he believes the person would have been fired and would have to fight to get the job back if cleared.

President Khamis and Superintendent Dr. Shoupon responded that the individual is entitled to due process. Khamis said the board is "expected to report for next week" and noted there has been coordination with state police; he told Mr. McDavid the board is hopeful a review or evaluation will be available soon. Khamis also said the board will call a special meeting by the end of the month to address the matter once they have a candidate or an update, and that the board must fill a related vacancy within 30 days per the district code.
