The Monticello School Board on Jan. 6 voted unanimously to accept $16,500 in community donations. Superintendent Eric Olsen presented four gifts: $2,000 from West Metro Buick GMC for the Rally to Read literacy program; $1,500 from UMC for the Monty Python's robotics team; $8,000 from Wright County United Way for a mindfulness program; and $5,000 from Wright County United Way for students in need.
Olsen noted the donations support a range of student services and extracurricular programming and thanked community partners and staff who helped secure the gifts. The board approved a resolution to gratefully accept the donations (moved by Jeff Hegley, seconded by Mark Branson) by unanimous vote (6–0).
