At its Jan. 6 organizational meeting the Monticello School Board elected Jamie Seben chair by acclamation and named Casey Root vice chair/treasurer and Melissa Curtis clerk; the board also approved a slate of routine administrative designations and appointments.
Jamie Seben was elected chair of the Monticello School Board by acclamation during the board’s Jan. 6 organizational meeting, after Member Melissa Curtis nominated Seben and no other nominations were offered. Casey Root and Melissa Curtis were likewise elected by acclamation as vice chair/treasurer and clerk, respectively.
The board moved quickly through the organizational agenda, approving the meeting agenda and a series of routine designations unanimously (6–0). Among the items approved were appointment of Superintendent Eric Olsen as a nonvoting ex officio board member; designation of the Monticello Times as the district’s official newspaper; confirmation of committee assignments posted with the agenda; and naming Squires, Walzberger, and Mace as legal counsel on file.
Board members also authorized district depositories, identified officials and signatures for contracts and official depository acceptance (including chair, vice chair/treasurer, clerk, Director of Business Services Tina Burkholder, controller Amy Selback, and accountant Cindy Brenney), and designated personnel authorized to execute electronic wire transfers (including Eric Olsen and Tina Burkholder). The board approved an annual designation for an official with authority for the Minnesota Department of Education external user access recertification system.
The organizational meeting adjourned at 5:12 p.m.; the regular board meeting convened immediately afterward.
