Open enrollment for Aurora East USD 131 began today and affected about 950 people, district staff told the Finance & Personnel committee.
Dr. Michael Engel said the launch "went pretty darn well" for the majority but that some people were overlooked because of groupings within Skyward. "We're actually physically adding them manually to the open enrollment and also for, beneficiary information as well," he said, adding that staff will create a persistent Skyward group so those people will be included automatically in future years.
Board member Bob Halverson said union leadership, Dr. Engel's office and his office coordinated quickly this morning to respond to questions and that a message was crafted to staff. To support people who need help, Engel announced in-person open-enrollment assistance at the district office's Tomcat Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays this week and next, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a translator and about five to six computer stations available.
Administrators described ongoing troubleshooting as the district adjusts to Skyward and noted the open-enrollment window runs Dec. 1–15. The committee heard the report as information; no formal action or vote was recorded in the transcript.
