Roseville — The Roseville City Council on Oct. 14 ratified a proposed contract with the POAM Police Officers Association and separately ratified the Roseville Court Clerk’s Association agreement after closed-session discussions, and it approved directing city attorneys to draft correspondence to the police chief about the city manager’s license.
City Manager Monroe told the council negotiations were difficult but resulted in contracts that both sides could live with. "I think we worked hard with this group to get it done," Monroe said during the meeting before the council voted to ratify the POAM agreement.
Council voted to go into two closed-door sessions earlier in the evening — one for an attorney-client written opinion under MCL 15.268(1)(h) and another for union negotiations under MCL 15.268(1)(c) — with roll-call votes recorded as six positive votes on each motion.
Later in the meeting, council amended the agenda to add item G and directed the city attorneys to draft correspondence to the police chief "to ensure the city manager's... license is valid, effective and preserved," a motion that council approved by voice vote.
What happens next: City attorneys will draft the requested correspondence; the contracts take effect per their terms and staff will handle implementation and any reporting required by negotiations or HR.
