Marshall County commissioners approved hiring Terracon to conduct asbestos testing on the first floor of the Marshall County Courthouse and to pay the cost from the general fund.

Engineering reported two proposals: Terracon at $3,250 and a local firm (More Contracting) at $3,450. Terracon also was performing related evaluations for the council on aging, and staff recommended selecting the lower-priced vendor. Commissioners moved and approved the contract award to Terracon during the Jan. 14 session.

Staff noted they had not yet received the council-on-aging billing report but expected it soon. No additional work authorization or follow‑on remediation was approved during the work session; testing is the immediate next step.
