Lake County commissioners adopt radon proclamation, two CUPs and administrative resolutions

The Lake County Board of County Commissioners on Jan. 6 adopted a series of administrative and land‑use actions, including a public‑health proclamation, two conditional use permits and two board resolutions.
Public health: Alana Maderos, public health deputy director, requested a proclamation recognizing January as National Radon Action Month to raise community awareness of radon risk and free radon test availability. Maderos said radon is the leading cause of lung cancer among nonsmokers and that more than half of homes in Lake County have radon levels at or above the actionable threshold. The board voted to approve the proclamation by voice vote.
