Klamath County public health secures tobacco-prevention contractor and purchases epidemiology time from Polk County

Jennifer Little, director in Klamath County Public Health, presented two items.
First, Little requested approval of an agreement to fund Lutheran Community Services Northwest Klamath Falls for tobacco-prevention projects. Speaker 1 moved to approve the agreement, noting a fiscal impact of $45,000 to be paid from the health-promotion subdepartment; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
Second, Little described an intergovernmental agreement to contract 0.2 FTE of Polk County epidemiology services while Klamath County builds in-house epidemiology capacity. The county will receive $5,151.45 per quarter in fiscal year 26 and $5,409.03 per quarter in fiscal year 27 for the service; Speaker 1 moved to approve the IGA and the revenue was recorded to an administration subdepartment. The motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
Little said she expects to return with a similar IGA for Wheeler County in about a week. The actions formalize short-term epidemiology support while Klamath builds internal capacity and continue community tobacco-prevention partnerships.
