Huerfano County commissioners voted on a package of administrative, land‑use and financial items during their November meeting, approving a range of resolutions, an ordinance and multiple agreements.
The board approved the day’s agenda and the consent agenda, then appointed Carl Young as the hearing officer for the county’s 2026 budget hearing. No public comments were received during the budget comment period.
The board approved Resolution 25‑40, authorizing execution of lease‑purchase and other documents for the law enforcement center project for up to $770,000, which staff described as the final component of the project’s capital stack while the final HVAC cost is settled.
Commissioners also approved Resolution 25‑41, appointing Natalie Clee as county attorney for a term through June 30, 2026. The board adopted Ordinance 25‑03 to add Article 4 to Chapter 14 of the county code to prohibit activities introducing or facilitating nonnative animal species within the county.
Other votes included approval of a bulk water permit for Mark and Rachel Leduc; acceptance of a property donation (an old hospital site) to allow EPA grant‑funded cleanup and future redevelopment; award of on‑call real‑estate broker services (RFP 2025‑06) to Impact Real Estate and Melissa Miller of Code of the West; approval of a NeoGov renewal pending transition to Tyler; and multiple vendor runs including a DHS vendor run of $2,432.88 and a November vendor run totaling approximately $309,506.13.
The board approved a lot consolidation and road vacation application to combine eight parcels at 244 Meadow Lane and vacate South Meadow Trail to accommodate a sale from owner Steven Knight to purchaser Keegan Carrick, subject to planning commission conditions that include consideration of Firewise community practices and a deed restriction barring future subdivision. Commissioners and staff noted a legal description of the road vacation still needs to be finalized before the resolution can be recorded.
The meeting closed its public business by moving into an executive session to receive legal advice under Colorado Revised Statutes 24‑6‑402(4)(b), during which the board expected to discuss several pending legal matters. The board said no final decisions would be made in the executive session.
