The Oldridge City Council on Jan. 14 approved final plans and specifications for upgrades to the city’s wastewater treatment plant and authorized staff to advertise for bids once the funding agency grants approval.
Department staff told the council they had procured key equipment, finalized and sealed a large plan set and submitted those plans to the state for review. ‘‘We’ve signed and sealed plans. We’ve sent them to the state. We’re still waiting on their approval on plans and specs and getting us ready to advertise,’’ the department representative said, noting state review could take “two weeks, a month” or longer.
Council voted to (1) approve the plans and specifications as presented and (2) authorize advertising for bids pending funding-agency approval. The motions were moved, seconded and carried in roll-call votes.
The council emphasized that advertising would not proceed until the funding agency gives the go-ahead. Staff said authorizing advertising now avoids a later return to council for the same procedural step once the agency approves funding.
Next steps: staff will await the state and funding-agency approval before issuing an advertisement for bids. No timetable was set; the department said it will notify the council once the agency grants approval.
