Connellsville — The Connellsville City Council used a brief Jan. 5 reorganization meeting to administer oaths of office and reorganize several department leadership positions.
Judge Hagerty administered the oaths of office and congratulated newly sworn officials. The council then voted to appoint Ethan Keating as director of accounts and finances; the motion passed on a recorded roll call. The council likewise appointed James Flynn as director of parks and public property and confirmed Bill Addis as director of public works. One appointment — the director of public health and safety — was explicitly tabled and not filled at the meeting.
The appointments were taken as part of a single reorganization resolution to assign council liaisons and departmental oversight for 2026. Council members cast recorded votes after motions were seconded; the clerk recorded 'Yes' votes from attending members for the appointments. No ordinance numbers or formal contracts were introduced during the reorganization votes.
"Do you solemnly swear that you will obey and defend the Constitutions of the United States and this Commonwealth," Judge Hagerty asked while administering the oath, language used as part of several swearing-in moments early in the meeting.
James Flynn, after his appointment, said he looked forward to working with the council under his new title.
The council indicated the matter left on the table — the director of public health and safety — will be addressed later. The full council will reconvene for a regular meeting on Jan. 20, 2026.
