Superintendent outlines online program pilot, redistricting timeline and plans to pilot livestreaming meetings

“Morris from Colorado Learning Solutions... is excited to partner with us,” the superintendent said, adding that tying an online program to a building would avoid separate administrative requirements and could reclaim students who are currently enrolled online or homeschooled. He estimated the district could recapture students and associated funding and noted CDLS reports an “88 percent graduation rate.”
On redistricting, the superintendent said the district received a final report from Shannon Bagan and will show a video to elementary principals explaining four options; the District Accountability Committee is scheduled to meet Dec. 18 to form recommendations to return to the board after winter break.
The superintendent also said staff have checked with IT about livestreaming board meetings and that the district attorney is reviewing legal and classroom concerns. “If we can, we'll try to livestream next meeting,” he said.
Why it matters: Enrollment declines affect district revenue and staffing. An online partnership and redistricting can influence long-term enrollment and school assignments. Livestreaming would increase public access but requires legal and privacy review.
