At its Dec. 9 meeting, the Petersburg Planning Commission moved to recommend the borough assembly approve vacation of a portion of North 7th Street adjacent to Block 275 USS 1252 A, with the vacated right-of-way consolidated with the adjacent lot (Block 275) unless neighboring owners purchase their half.
A commissioner moved the recommendation and another seconded it. Commissioners discussed that the affected lots have alternative access from Goffin and Lake streets and that consolidation would make a triangular lot (lot 339 in discussion) buildable.
Planning staff (Liz) confirmed that when a right-of-way is vacated owners on both sides typically have an opportunity to acquire their half and, if owners decline, the entire right-of-way can be transferred to the remaining owner. The chair called the roll and commissioners present — Heather, Sarah, Joshua and Micah — indicated approval.
The item will be forwarded as a recommendation to the borough assembly for final action.
