San Miguel County commissioners on Jan. 7 approved a set of land-use actions related to the Telluride Regional Airport, including acceptance of permit reviews and amendments to the planning director's written interpretations.
Planning staff recapped prior discussion from a Dec. 17 meeting and explained the board's direction to affirm the planning director's interpretation while removing two sentences related to a disputed Lot R fact. Staff proposed a resolution that records the strikeout edits and cross-references the prior interpretation in the property record. Commissioners asked staff to add a statement noting that a planning-staff inspection occurred in October; staff agreed to add the date into the whereas clauses.
The board also approved an amended set of findings clarifying the review process for uses and activities at the airport. Commissioners requested that annual inspections be conducted and reported to the board; staff agreed they will conduct annual reviews and refer issues back to the board if noncompliance is identified.
Motions to approve the chair's signature on the resolutions (recorded as Resolution 2026-02 accepting the review and Resolutions 2026-03 and 2026-04 addressing the planning director's interpretations) were made and carried by voice vote without opposition.
Staff said the resolutions and the cross-referenced interpretations will be recorded with the property and will include the inspection note and procedural clarifications.
The board's action clarifies the county's record on airport uses and sets an annual review process for compliance monitoring.
