Given upcoming infrastructure changes at the airport (new fuel system and completion of current construction next year), staff recommended a one‑year extension to allow time to draft and negotiate revised agreements that address ground‑lease management, enforcement of hangar rules and other operational details.
Commissioners and staff agreed the county needs aviation‑specialized legal and consulting services to review and update contracts. Staff proposed exploring a combined RFP with other sponsors (Grand County, Routt County/Steamboat airport managers referenced) to share costs and expertise. Commissioners authorized the staff request and approved the amendments by roll call.
Next steps: staff will seek aviation consulting firms and coordinate with other regional airport sponsors on possible cost‑sharing for specialized legal and technical review, then bring revised agreements back to the board for approval.
