Pitkin County accepts $112,000 grant to staff PACT co‑response clinician

Pitkin County accepted a $112,000 federal pass-through grant on Dec. 17 to support the PACT co-response team and hire a full‑time clinician.
Raleigh Bacharach, PACT administrator with Public Health, explained the award is routed through the Colorado Office of Juvenile Justice Assistance and was expected in October; because it arrived late the county sought and approved an emergency resolution to expedite acceptance so the position can be filled quickly. Bacharach said the grant will fund one full-time clinician and a small portion of grant-management costs and that the county has already begun recruitment.
The board approved the emergency resolution and scheduled a confirmatory public hearing and reading for Jan. 14. Bacharach said grantees may request a no‑cost extension from DOJ through the state to secure a full-year grant period and that reapplication for a second year of funding is possible but not guaranteed.
Next steps: County staff will continue recruitment for the clinician position, execute the grant agreement with the state, and return with contract and program reporting details as required.
