UOG regent nominating council tables leadership elections, reviews candidate pool

Staff said no new completed application packets had been received since the Oct. 2, 2025 meeting and that two completed packets — from Lee Weber and Christopher Felix — were currently eligible for consideration. Staff noted packets remain valid for up to three years and pointed out that Lee Weber’s packet is valid through April 26, 2026.
Members discussed a range of potential nominees from prior outreach; several individuals previously contacted had declined. The council also reviewed eligibility constraints discussed at the meeting, including a minimum residency requirement of three years for nominees and a waiting period for recent government employees (staff said they would confirm exact timing for retired employees).
Separately, the council moved to retain Anna Pangalemen as a member at large for a two-year term; the voice vote carried with no opposition recorded.
Next steps: staff will confirm outstanding eligibility questions with legal counsel, continue candidate outreach, and transmit the packet chosen later in the meeting to the governor's office for processing.
