Timnath council authorizes $3.1 million to finish Pulse broadband buildout

The Timnath Town Council on Jan. 13 approved Resolution No. 6, Series 2026, authorizing Funding Authorization No. 4 for $3,100,000 to complete Pulse broadband construction across the town.

Staff member Smith told the council the authorization covers $230,000 in project and construction management, $2,600,000 for site construction (conduit, pull boxes and fiber, including feeder lines serving Wild Wing and the Saratoga/Kitchener Lake areas) and $256,000 for premise installs that will be reimbursed by Loveland Pulse once a 40% take rate is reached. Smith said the funding “completes construction under the original IGA for most of Timnath.”

Council members asked about timing and budget performance. Smith said work orders list a Dec. 31 completion target and estimated the Saratoga and Kitchell Lake areas would likely be reached by this fall. Council discussion noted the build is significantly ahead of earlier schedules; one speaker estimated the project is roughly $1–2.2 million under prior estimates. Smith added the project has averaged about a 20% take rate so far and that Loveland’s experience was that reaching 40% typically took about five and a half years in a newly served area.

Council member Lisa Lake moved to approve the resolution; the motion was seconded and the measure passed unanimously. Multiple council members and the mayor praised Pulse’s service and staff for project management; Mayor Robert Oxmacher said he has had the service and cited improved speeds and reliability.

The approval authorizes the town to fund the final construction phases identified under the IGA with Loveland Pulse. Staff noted that premise-install costs will be borne by the town until a 40% subscription threshold is reached, at which point Loveland Pulse will cover those costs. No additional conditions or contingencies were listed in the council vote.
