Rising Sun board approves holiday leave and makes commissioner assignments

At the Dec. 9 meeting, Rising Sun's mayor and board approved three procedural items: granting town employees the Friday after Christmas and the Friday after New Year's Day off; approving the consent agenda; and confirming commissioner assignments.
Commissioner Auggie Pearson moved to grant the two post-holiday Fridays as paid days off, and Commissioner Kleiner seconded the motion. The board voted by voice; the chair called for 'All in favor?' and members responded 'Aye.'
Later the board moved, seconded and approved the consent agenda. Mayor Merritt then requested confirmation of commissioner assignments. The mayor announced that Commissioner Emily Kleiner will serve as water and sewer commissioner, Commissioner Frank Dowling will serve as streets and sidewalks commissioner, and Commissioner Auggie Pearson will serve as public safety commissioner; the parks and recreation position will remain open. Commissioner Auggie Pearson moved to approve those appointments, Commissioner Kleiner seconded, and the motion passed on a voice vote.
The board also postponed approval of the Nov. 18, 2025 meeting minutes to the next meeting, noting staff were occupied with extravaganza planning. The motions were procedural and carried by unanimous voice vote as recorded in the meeting.
