Board appoints Keelan Bosman as parks-and-rec voting member and names Susan Korber alternate

Carbondale trustees appointed Keelan Bosman as a voting member of the Parks & Recreation Commission and named Susan Korber as the alternate following board interviews. Trustees described both applicants as strong candidates and approved the recommended appointments unanimously.

Keelan Bosman introduced himself and said he has lived in Carbondale four years and works as an outdoor educator at the Colorado Rocky Mountain School. He cited experience managing programming, operating budgets and building partnerships with regional groups such as the Aspen Music Festival and Jazz Aspen as reasons he would contribute to parks and rec programming. “I have experience managing budgets, operating programs, creating programming,” Bosman told the board, and he suggested increasing music- and culture-oriented programming in town parks. He also raised a longer-term idea of exploring designation of a Whitewater Park Recreation Area at the confluence of the Roaring Fork and Crystal rivers as a potential community asset.

Board members noted that both applicants bring complementary perspectives—Bosman’s youth and program-management experience and Korber’s family/retiree perspective—and that both could serve on the commission if the board structured one as a voting member and one as the alternate. Trustee Ross moved to appoint Keelan Bosman as the voting member and Susan Korber as alternate; Trustee Christina seconded and the motion passed unanimously.

Keelan expressed appreciation following the vote and said he looks forward to serving. The board did not record substantive conditions on the appointment; any future changes would follow regular appointment processes.
