Douglas County proclaims Nov. 4–11 Operation Greenlight to honor veterans

The Douglas County Board of Commissioners on Nov. 4 adopted a resolution declaring Nov. 4–11, 2025, as Operation Greenlight week to honor military service members and veterans.
Benson Elmore, director of Veterans Services, read the resolution and described the initiative as a visible way for residents and businesses to show appreciation by displaying a green light. Elmore cited national and state veterans-service organizations that support the effort and named local partners including Metro Community College, Maple Ridge Retirement Center, Physicians Mutual, Viridian Credit Union and others participating in displays during the week.
"This board hereby declares from 11/04/2025 through 11/11/2025 as a time to salute and honor the service and sacrifice of our former service members," Elmore read. The board approved the proclamation unanimously, 7–0.
The resolution also notes national statistics and transition challenges referenced in the reading and encourages residents to participate by displaying a green light in a window or place of business.
