The Woodland Park Historical Preservation Committee reviewed a draft poster for a restoration project, agreed on editorial edits, and pledged support to help the U Pass Historical Society pursue grant funding for History Park improvements.
Committee members and staff examined poster copy (including photo credits, dates and the word choice for "interments/interments") and assigned proofreading tasks to a staff member (Amy). The committee agreed to simplify donor-credit lines and to remove duplicated adjectives for clarity.
Members also reviewed mock-ups for improvements at History Park and discussed a potential $50,000 T-Mobile grant the U Pass Historical Society plans to pursue. The committee voted to draft a letter of recommendation of support and asked staff to place it on city letterhead for use in the society's application. Members discussed timelines: if the society misses the current cycle, the next application window will be in March.
Separately, committee members discussed a proposed mural project for the cultural center: an estimated budget of about $35,000 was cited to refresh an existing mural and to produce a new one. Members identified likely funding sources including the U Pass Historical Society, the Woodland Park Arts Alliance, library contributions and possible city support, and discussed a January–April fundraising timeline to have the mural ready for summer activity.
The committee asked staff to circulate corrected poster files for final proofreading and to prepare the requested letter of support for the grant application.
