Cape Coral Youth Council votes 7–2 to show 'Clueless' at movie-in-the-park

The Cape Coral Youth Council voted 7–2 on Jan. 9 to play the film Clueless at an upcoming movie-in-the-park, approving the choice during a motion by Member Halsey and a second from Member Sanchez. Chair Skorzak called the vote and announced the result: "As the vote is 7 to 2, the movie we will play is Clueless."

Members discussed content suitability before voting, with the chair and some members emphasizing that the film appeared to contain less explicit material than the other options and that the council should avoid potential public backlash on social media. "Clueless is the most appropriate in all aspects," the chair said during discussion. Member Sanchez and other members who reviewed the movies said the selections could be shown in versions with profanity reduced.

After selecting the film, members moved to formally adopt Clueless for the council-hosted movie-in-the-park; the motion passed without opposition. The council then addressed logistics: Vice Chair Brown and Member Sanchez will follow up on special-event signature surveys with Cultural Park staff, the group confirmed the park restroom availability and discussed food-truck cooking notices and a reported 15% sales share for vendor proceeds. Members volunteered to assist with vendor outreach and permit signatures to ensure the event remains on schedule.
