Sanford outlines MLK weekend events, Crooms Academy centennial plans and community fundraisers

The program continues with a Jan. 17 banquet honoring local leaders — the Brother Boot Award was announced for the Seminole County Public Schools superintendent — and is followed by a parade from Crooms Academy down to Holly Avenue that will end at Harris Park with a festival lasting until about 5:00 p.m.
Community groups also announced a Jan. 24 5K with a $25 registration fee to support centennial activities for Crooms Academy; organizers encouraged participation including walking or rolling for accessibility. Separately, the city described an art walk, an Allen Chapel Church video-history project in partnership with UCF, and ongoing food giveaways and volunteer opportunities.
