He described an October event in which the new generator failed to switch over; the county's older basement generator was returned to service as an interim measure. Davidson said the county is working with PowerTech to add monitoring and push notifications so staff and the communications center will be alerted in real time if generators fail to start or transfer under load. He proposed regular load testing — including monthly runs with one run under load — and documentation of test results and notification procedures.
Davidson also reported the county purchased a pickup‑mounted snowplow (budgeted and paid) and discussed parking‑lot coordination during snow removal. Staff said they will pursue networked monitoring, schedule controlled load tests outside business hours where possible, and bring any required budget requests back to the board.
Next steps: Trane is scheduled for integration work in January; facilities staff will schedule load tests with notification to departments and confine testing to minimize service disruption.
