Program staff updated the board on court-based and community grantee activity and the board approved moving the RFP/application process online.
Lori reported recovery court and related dockets’ caseloads: recovery court had 155 people active with 167 in the application process; drug court, DUI programs, mental health court and veterans court provided counts and noted December graduations. Lori confirmed the recovery court building is complete and participants have moved into the facility.
Sarah presented preliminary midyear reports for new grantees. Graceful Gems had engaged dozens of unduplicated young people in weekend and after-school enrichment and showed an 80% correct rate on pilot curriculum knowledge checks (staff noted the sample was small and not a scientific result). Thriving Together Tennessee reported work with families and locality concentration in ZIP code 37130.
Sarah also described plans to replace email application submissions with an online portal using Qualtrics, which staff said is configured to prevent applicants from viewing others’ submissions and could go live by the end of the month. She proposed application workshops, a recorded webinar, technical assistance office hours, and a March 31 application deadline. A motion to allow MTSU to change to an online submission system was made, seconded and approved by voice vote with no opposition.
Board members asked staff to prepare press materials and to schedule applicant workshops and to continue refining reporting metrics to demonstrate program impact.
