The City of Victorville Planning Commission during its Jan. 14 meeting completed annual reorganization of officers and reviewed the commission's 2025 approved-projects list.
Nominations for chair were opened by the clerk. Commissioner Thomas nominated Paul Marsh for chair; the nomination was seconded and Marsh accepted. The commission voted to appoint Paul Marsh to the office of chair. The clerk then opened nominations for vice chair; Chair Marsh nominated Commissioner Bill Thomas, Thomas accepted, and the commission voted to appoint Bill Thomas as vice chair.
After officer elections, staff presented the commission-approved projects list for 2025. Staff said the presentation was intended to be an annual item and noted one correction: a roughly 400,000-square-foot industrial project had been omitted in earlier summaries, and staff revised the industrial-square-footage total to over 600,000 square feet for the prior year. Staff told commissioners the commission approved seven code amendments last year addressing topics from housing support to reactivating unused commercial space. Commissioners asked no technical questions; Vice Chair Thomas commented on the appearance of wireless communication towers in the city. The commission took action to review and file the 2025 planning commission approved-projects list.
Staff also reminded commissioners that the League of California Cities Planning Commission Academy will be March 11–13 in Anaheim and that staff will follow up by email about scheduling.
