Sylvania Schools board approves personnel appointments, service agreements and a $1,000 donation

The Sylvania Schools Board of Education approved a set of personnel actions, contracts and donations at its January 12 meeting.
The board accepted a $1,000 donation from Maxwell Zorich to the Southview speech and debate program. Trustees also approved the administrative retirement of Dawn Watson, the district's director of custodial services, recognizing more than 20 years of service.
The board appointed Carla Bernad as Assistant Director of Transportation. The superintendent described Bernad's background: experience instructing CDL drivers, supervising transportation operations and driving buses. Trustees welcomed Bernad and approved the appointment.
The board approved technology and services agreements, including the annual Nwaka and NBEC internet-access agreement, and approved an overnight field trip for Northview High School students to attend the state Educators Rising conference at Capitol (Capitol) University. The district also approved several service agreements to provide related services for students with disabilities (items referenced as contracts for Jen Murphy, COPHealth and CompHealth levels of service).
Separately, the board approved a small service-fund appropriation unchanged at $8,000 and authorized administrative ability to accept resignations and to employ personnel as part of routine consent authority.
Each of these items passed by motion and roll call during the consent portion of the meeting; trustees offered thanks to staff and administrators for their work.
