Lebanon County launches student election-sticker contest to boost civic engagement

Lebanon County election staff announced the county's first student election-sticker contest, designed to engage young people in the civic process. Amy Shoemaker, voter registration administrative assistant, and Deputy Director Sean Drasher said the contest runs from the meeting date through March 31 and is open to K–12 students across the county, including homeschooled and cyber-schooled students.
Kindergarten through sixth-grade students will compete in a "future voter" category; seventh through 12th grades will submit designs for an "I voted" sticker. Entries and release forms will be available at county libraries and the elections office; the first entrants to pick up forms at the office will receive a small packet of colored pencils. An internal panel will select the top 10 designs in each category, with the commission then choosing the final winners; names of entrants will be redacted in the selection process.
Commissioners praised the outreach as a model for involving young people in elections and approved the initiative by motion and voice vote.
