Resident tells planning commission a Danville fire‑damaged home was remodeled without a permit

During the hearing of citizens Maureen Wood of the Tunstall District told the planning commission she had repeatedly contacted community development starting in September after an investor purchased a residence at 73 Hunters Ridge in Danville that had suffered a significant fire. Wood said she called staff at least seven times and was told there was no permit; county staff did not inspect the property until Dec. 16. "They proceeded to remodel this home without a building permit," Wood said, and later: "They're not making them take the [building] down to see where the fire damage was." She asked the commission to follow up so future buyers will receive proper inspections and so the county collects required permit revenue.

Chair acknowledged her comments and noted staff would be aware; Wood said she had emailed supervisors and received no response. The planning commission did not take a vote on enforcement during the hearing; the comment was recorded in the minutes and staff was or will be asked to follow up through normal code enforcement channels.
