The Norris School District board moved forward on two facilities purchases tied to the Titan Activities Complex and the high school gym.
Concession stand: Administration presented bid tabulations and recommended awarding the concession-stand construction to Brandon Bruins Construction LLC at a not-to-exceed price of $576,500, with work to be funded by fundraising and grant dollars and contingent on receipt of a building permit. A trustee moved to approve the recommendation and the board passed the motion by voice vote.
Bleachers: The board reviewed bids to remove old bleachers and install new seating in the south gym. Administration reported a low bid for bleachers at $213,763 (bidder referenced as Midstates/Irwin). Trustees discussed related costs such as electrical work, floor sanding and painting and approved the purchase as amended during discussion to meet vendor timeline and pricing windows.
Trustees emphasized staging and prioritization — concrete pads and alternate deducts may be added back as additional funds are raised — and asked staff to return at the next meeting with final scopes, permitting status and funding sources for remaining alternates.
The board also discussed disposal of the existing bleachers and confirmed removal and off-site disposal would be part of the selected bid package.
