Jim Devine was elected president of the Norris School District 160 Board of Education during the board’s organizational meeting. The board opened nominations and, after a motion by Greg and a second, approved Devine as president; the chair then turned the meeting over to the newly seated president.

Following the presidential election the board moved to confirm other officers. Gary Vujicic was approved to continue as vice president and Ronald was confirmed as treasurer. Trustees also approved committee appointments, naming a negotiation committee that includes Jim Devine, Gary Kumchek and Rhonda Burbank.

Board members handled the organizational items by motion and voice vote with no extended debate on the officer confirmations. Trustees discussed procedure for conflict-of-interest forms and confirmed that the board will distribute and retain annual conflict forms for auditor review.

The meeting also included routine governance items such as approval of depository and newspaper selections and the consent agenda, all approved by voice vote. The board directed staff to ensure materials and records related to committee work and elections are archived in the district packet and Google Drive.

The board adjourned the organizational portion of the meeting and proceeded to reports and committee updates.
