The Winslow Township Board of Education carried motions on several routine and governance items at its Jan. 14 meeting.
Minutes and routine reports: the board approved the meeting minutes from Dec. 10, 2025 with one abstention (Benjamin Matthews, who said he did not attend that meeting). The superintendent's report was accepted with a correction to item 23 (changing an approved count from 24 to 34). The business administrative report and personnel report were moved and carried by roll call, with some members recording abstentions on particular agenda pages as noted in the meeting record.
Committee appointments and ratification: after the president rescinded certain committee assignments following legal advice about a potential conflict, Vice President Sheryl Pitts announced new committee chairs and membership. The board moved to ratify the amended appointments and the motion carried.
Public comment and executive session: the board opened public comment and found no speakers either in person or on the line. The board then moved into executive session, citing two Open Public Meetings Act exceptions: (1) matters related to contracts or a pending construction contract and (2) matters involving employment, specifically the CSA (Chief School Administrator) selection process. The executive session was estimated to last 45–60 minutes.
Why it matters: approvals keep the district’s administrative and governance work moving; the executive session topics indicate upcoming confidential negotiations or personnel decisions that will not be discussed in open session.
What’s next: the board will complete executive session discussions and return to open session at a later time; administrative offices will publish ratified committee lists and any public records required by policy.
