The Long Beach Town Council on Jan. 12 approved a community-center capital project to install vinyl plank flooring in Room 9, where the table‑tennis group will move, and approved a lease for Room 10 with tenant Susan Vissing at $500 per month beginning Feb. 1.
Town staff said the flooring material would cost approximately $3,200–$3,500; Jim (community-center management) told the council the table‑tennis players expect to raise roughly $1,500 toward the purchase and that an installer has agreed to provide labor at no cost to the town. Council voted to purchase the flooring from Lowe's on the town account and to accept donations as they arrive to offset the expense.
On the lease, staff noted Susan Vissing currently occupies Room 11 and has contributed donated materials and cleaning services to the center. "Susan is fine with just going in, doing some general cleaning, and taking over the lease on February 1 for $500 a month," a staff member told the council. The council approved the Room 10 lease by motion and voice vote.
Council discussed courtyard use, noting that tenants have donated time and materials toward center improvements and that management will monitor use if the courtyard is needed for reservations.
